Welcome to The Venue at Kersey Mill.
We are Ross and Charlene Thurston, the husband-and-wife team behind the venue. In 2026, we proudly became the custodians of one of Suffolk's most beautiful and historic wedding venues, bringing with us a wealth of experience from the wedding and events industry.
As a family-run business, we understand that your wedding is one of the most important days of your life. That's why we believe every couple deserves a personal, attentive service from the very first enquiry through to the moment you leave as newlyweds.
Our aim is simple: to create an unforgettable wedding experience where every detail is carefully planned, every guest feels welcome, and every couple can relax knowing they are in safe hands.
Meet Ross Thurston
Owner & Managing Director
Ross has spent more than 20 years in the wedding and events industry, building a reputation as one of the region's leading wedding entertainment specialists.
Before taking over The Venue at Kersey Mill, Ross founded the award-winning RCT Entertainment & Events, providing professional wedding DJs, venue styling, dance floors, lighting, photo booths, special effects and entertainment for hundreds of weddings every year across Essex, Suffolk and beyond.
Having worked at thousands of weddings throughout his career, Ross understands exactly what makes a successful wedding day. His experience allows him to help couples with everything from planning timelines and supplier coordination to creating the perfect atmosphere for their celebration.
Ross is passionate about delivering exceptional customer service and believes every wedding should be as unique as the couple themselves.
Meet Charlene Thurston
Owner, Managing Director & Wedding Co-ordinator
Charlene is the friendly face many of our couples first meet and the person who will guide you throughout your wedding journey.
As our dedicated Wedding Co-ordinator, Charlene works closely with every couple from the initial venue viewing through to the wedding day itself. She is there to answer questions, offer advice, coordinate suppliers, assist with planning, and ensure every detail comes together seamlessly.
Known for her calm, organised and approachable nature, Charlene takes great pride in getting to know each couple personally. She understands that no two weddings are ever the same and works hard to ensure your day reflects your vision, style and personality.
Whether it's helping you choose your ceremony layout, discussing your timeline, or making sure every finishing touch is exactly where it should be, Charlene is committed to making the planning process enjoyable and completely stress-free.
